General Information

 

 

Tournament Dates: SATURDAY,NOVEMBER 24TH 2007

                                 SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH 2007

 

Venue:                     Barbados Community College Gymnasium

                                 The ‘Erie’, Howells X Road, The Ivy, St Michael

 

Starting Time:  Saturday 24th 5:00PM SHARP

                          Sunday 25th 9:00AM SHARP     

 

Spectator fee:          Adults $10.00 Bds.     Children under 12 accompanied by parents - $5.00 Bds. DAILY

 

Competitor fee:   $10.U.S. Registration and $10.U.S. per event

WTF Tae Kwon Do ($20.U.S)

 

Late penalty:  $10.per competitor late penalty fee apply after deadline date

 

Contested Events: Push up competition, Sit up competition, Open Hand Forms,  Weapons Forms, Grappling, Continuous Point sparring, Teams Open Hand Forms, Team Weapons Forms,3 Man/Woman team point sparring Tae kwon do (WTF rules),

 

Prizes will be awarded from 1st -3rd place in all divisions immediately after the event.

Local transportation is government regulated. Groups’ transportation can be arranged through our tournament body. Please note that we need three weeks advance notice and all contracts for transportation is made between teams and carriers.

If he/she does get injured, we also understand that medical treatment will be of first aid only. I also state that he/she is of healthy body and mind and hereby waive and release all claims, causes of actions, losses, damages, cost, expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) either known or unknown, now existing or arising in the future, that we may have of whatever nature against the tournament or its promoters, sponsors or any one related with the organizing of this championship. Furthermore, I hereby waive any compensation whatsoever for the use of pictures or video production, etc., utilized by those associated with this tournament for any profit making motives, now or in the future. I agree that I am entirely responsible for obtaining permission from the artist(s) for any music I may use for my performances in the competition and verify by signing I have done such. I agree that this permission indemnifies all of the above named parties from any liability or compensation for use of such music and permits the above named parties to use such music in any recorded performances of myself for profit making motives, now or in the future.

RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT

 

B.I.S.M.A.A. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO EXPEL FROM THE COMPETITION OR THE PREMISISE ALL AND ANY PERSONS FAILING TO ADHERE TO THE PRESCRIBE RULES AND CODE OF CONDUCT.

Lack of equipment – A player entering the ring without the proper equipment will be given 2 minutes to obtain proper safety equipment, failing which he will be disqualified. Strict rule in effect!

 

2.                  Personal presentation

 

a.   Fingernails and toenails: neatly clipped for all contact events

b.      Attire: Uniforms are optional but preferred. Attire must be clean and neat, with no dangerous attachments or obscenities

 

3.                  Availability

 

No late entries will be allowed when a division is declared closed and/or charting has started. Is a player is competing on one event (e.g. sparring) when called to another event (e.g. grappling), the Centre Referee will hold the division for up to 5 minutes. However, if a player is competing in one division when called for another division in the same event, he must report to perform within 2 minutes after being called or he will be disqualified.

 

4.                  Rules Arbitration

 

The Rules Arbitrator will make final decisions on all competition rules issues.

 

Procedure to lodge protest:

 

i.                     Ask Centre Referee for Arbitration

ii.                   Pay the arbitration fee to the Rules Arbitrator ($25)

iii.                  Remain in the ring – only the players, their coaches, referees may be in the ring

iv.                 Briefly explain your protest when called upon to do so/provide visual evidence

v.                   Abide by the ruling

vi.                 If protester wins, arbitration fee is refunded

 


COMPETITION RULES

 

A.                 Point Sparring

 

NUMBER OF

3 or 5 (Center Referee and two or four corner judges)

SEQUENCING

Luck of the draw; bye system will be used where necessary. In the first round only, players from the same school will not be paired against each other, to the extent possible. At the Centre Referee’s discretion, matches may also be paired by height.

TIME LIMIT

2 minutes running time

TIME OUTS

Player or coach can call one time out per match for up to 10 seconds when play is already stopped.

STOPPING THE

For player time out, equipment adjustment or medical conference

COACHING

One registered coach may coach a player from the coaches corner. Coach may enter ring only with Centre Referee’s permission on medical conference or arbitration.

SCORING AREAS

No face contact. Score to head, chest, ribs, abdomen, kidneys

CONTACT

Light contact to all junior point fighting categories. Light contact (i.e. just a touch) to head; light or moderate contact (penetration but no blood) to body for adults and same rule for continuous point sparring.

TECHNIQUES

Kick, punch, back fist,  ridge hand, sweeps to the back or side of the lower front leg, spins, aerials; leg throws

SCORING

1 pt for hand and kicking techniques;

 

 

 

 

PENALTIES

Awarded for hitting after call to stop; coach entering ring; excessive force; malicious illegal technique; running out of bounds

POINT AND

 PENALTY

A point can be given to one player and a penalty to the other player on one call, thus giving 2 scores to a single player when the score is called at the break

POINTS TO WIN

The player with the most points when time is called, or the first player to reach or 5 pts wins the bout

OUT OF BOUNDS

When neither foot is inside or touching the edge of the ring

JUDGING ERROR

A judge making an admitted error may change the error before the play resumes

TIES

Result in sudden death overtime

INJURY

Doctor may allow up to 5 mins for recovery counting from doctor’s arrival. Centre Referee or the Doctor may prohibit a player from continuing. If a player is not allowed to continue due to injury inflicted by his opponent, the opponent is disqualified and the injured player is declared the winner; if the injured player cannot continue in the next round he is entered as the loser. However, if a player bows out due to injury (i.e. doctor says he can continue, but he chooses not to) then he is declared the loser.

 


B.        Continuous sparring

·         Warning: use of improper technique (e.g. slapping)

·         Disqualification: automatic on second warning offence; wild play; pinching; biting, poor sportsmanship

Most point scored system will be used. Recorder tallies total points for each player and adds penalties to give final score

Illegal techniques:  throwing straight back; body slam; hand strikes; kick as a dominant technique
